Here are the highlights from the September 8th board meeting.
 
The Board reviewed the Monthly Attendance Report for fiscal year-to-date.  Attendance remains up from the previous year between 5 – 10%. Last month’s attendance averaged at 45.43%.
Baldridge is currently drafting a proposed Political Activity policy.  A draft was shared with the Board.  The intent is to remain neutral and unbiased but also to educate the club.  The Board will review the policy again next month before finalizing it.
Baldridge provided an update on the Centennial events including a resignation from Peggy Ehora as Chair for the Centennial Committee.  Baldridge stated her work is very much appreciated.  At Ehora’ suggestion, Baldridge contacted Rita Brown to assume the role as Chairman.  Brown suggested Jon Rockhold or asked to have Jon Rockhold as a co-chair.  Also Carl Berger has agreed to be the Event Chair for the Centennial.   Brown, Rockhold and Greta Murray will serve as co-chairs.   Brown reported the History Committee is moving forward in gathering information and in addition, is also looking for photos from past events.  Decker reported the $100 Grand Committee has met and agreed that the goal is to leave a legacy and to donate the money for a primary purpose.  City and County officials have been contacted for their input.  Once finalized, the information will be shared with the club members for approval.  
Runk reported that the Membership Chair, John Ficcorilli is working with the Young Professionals to co-brand an event encouraging the Young Professionals to consider joining Rotary.   
 
Chuck Wolfe from Family Promise of Lima-Allen County will speak at an October Rotary meeting.  He will be meeting with Jill Ackerman, Lima City Schools, Runk and Baldridge to determine the best way for Rotary to support Family Promise of Lima-Allen County..
                                                               
Frost provided an update on the Faurot Park Rotary Pavilion.  He has met with Rick Stolly from the City.  Decker is working with the Toledo Painters Union and Gary McPheron’s apprentice group along with Mike Knisely for volunteer labor.  Frost will have firm numbers by the next Board Meeting.  The Rotary Logo or Four Way Test could be included on the back wall.  A street sign designating the location of the Rotary Pavilion will also be put up.  The goal is to have the work done by May 2015.  
An International fundraiser is scheduled for October.  No details are available yet.  MESA is looking at a warehouse in Fostoria that will need rehabbing.    There will be a MESA Board meeting later this month.  MESA leadership may ask District  Clubs to make 3 year financial commitment to the warehouse rehabbing. 
                            
District Governor Rex Engle when he visits the Lima Club on September 22.  He will meet with the Rotary Board and the Foundation Board at 10:45 a.m. before the club meeting.

The Board agreed to table a request for the application of Elia Lopez, P&G employee and the resignation of Grace Allen until additional information is forwarded by P&G.  
The Board agreed to add a second Inside Scope Meeting each month.  The cost to Rotary would be an additional $25 a month.  It is part of a push for attendance as an important component of being a Rotarian.  The second meeting will include an educational component. 
Treasurer Lawson’s financial report indicated Income for the Month of $6,871 with expenses of $7,864 and a net Loss of ($993.05).  Past due statements were sent out and Board members continue to contact those in arrears to arrange payment. 
The Board agreed to change the payment schedule for the Milano club and to pay them every two weeks rather than monthly.  President Baldridge will send an email advising him of the revised payment schedule. 
The Toledo Rotary Club will be visiting Rotary International on October 10, 2014 and has asked the Lima Rotary Club to accompany them.  If anyone is interested, the cost is $100 per person for lodging.  The group will leave out of Toledo on the train or other form of public transportation.
An invitation was received from the Oberlin Rotary Club inviting the Lima Club members to attend an Evening in Paris fundraiser on Saturday October 18, 2014.
