Board Highlights - February 10, 2015

Here are the highlights from the February 10 board meeting.
 
Brown stated that January attendance was down but the weather has not been favorable.  Attendance still remains up from the previous year by 1.11%.  On February 9th, 86 Rotarians were in attendance with a total of 98 attending the meeting. 
 
The Centennial Committee met Monday February 9, 2015 before the club meeting.  Brown reported the following highlights:  Both The Lima News and The 419 are involved.  The Lima News will do a tab that will run midweek Thurs March 12.  President Baldridge sent a letter introducing the work to the club members last week.   The Lima News is asking club members to support the club by buying ads with 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Foundation. 
The 419 will also be involved.  A meeting with them was set for February 13, 2015.
The 5th of the Service Banners is up.  The 6th will be introduced the night of the Gala.  It will cover celebrating the past with a focus on the future – the $100,000 Investment in our Community. 
 
The Rotary Club will have four billboards located around the city during the month of March. Bus stop posters will be featured during April. The focus of the signage will be to Celebrate the Centennial and 100 years of service.  (Lamar has agreed to provide four billboards on highly-traveled roads for free to the Lima Rotary Club to celebrate its 100th anniversary during the month of March. These locations are on N. Main Street north of the railroad tracks, on Elida Road between Robb and the Jameson Overpass, Route 117 east of Bowman, and South Dixie south of 4th Street. The Lima Rotary Club only has to pay for the printing of the posters – $150 each. Normally these boards would cost approximately $500 each plus the printing of the posters.)
 
The Rotary ties and scarves are scheduled to be delivered by mid-February.  They will be displayed for a couple of weeks for pickup and those remaining may need to be delivered.    
 
Invitations are scheduled to go out the last week of February.  The evening will include “guests from the past” during the cocktail hour.  The Boys Choir will make a return and be singing.  Jeff Fitzgerald has agreed to be the emcee
 
Decker reported the $100,000 Committee had received twenty-five applications. The committee has selected four.   On Thursday February 12, 2015, the remaining four organizations will do presentations to the committee. The committee will meet an additional time to consider the four applicants. On February 23, 2015, the club members will receive a written survey for their opinion and comments.  Next will be a joint meeting of the Rotary Club Board of Directors, the Rotary Foundation and the $100,000 committee on March 17, 2015. The winner(s) will be announced on Saturday evening March 21st during the gala.  The presentation to the winner(s) will occur during the March 23, 2015 club meeting.

President-Elect Report Runk reported he has been working on securing the boys choir for the Centennial Gala.  He has also been working with John Ficorrili and Annette Swisher on a Membership brochure.        
 
Vice President Frost reported on the status of the Faurot Park Pavilion repair.  He will do a report to the club on Monday February 16, 2015.  A district grant covered part of the cost of the materials for the refurbishing and the Lima Rotary Foundation has agreed to fund the remaining cost of the materials for repair and updating.  Frost will invite City Park’s Director Rick Stolly to the Club Meeting on the 16th as the city is the owner of the Pavilion.
 
Bischoff reported a global water project in Honduras is being put together with a goal of having it under contract by July 1, 2015.
                                                                                                       
The Board approved a revision to the Corporate Membership Policy to provide clarification of the $1,500 annual dues and the application and resignation process.
 
The Board approved purchasing Interact Pins for the Bath High School students and director of the newly organized Club.  Each student will also be given a 4-way test coin.  The Lima Rotary Club will pay for 5 officers and the director of the program to attend the District Interact Conference.

Treasurer Lawson provided financial reports for the two months of December 2014 and January 2015.                                                                                      
December 2014 income was in the amount $13,319.  Expenses for the month were $10,953 with income for the month in the amount of $2,365.
January 2015 income was in the amount of $24,304.  Expense for the month were $19,371 with net income for the month in the amount of $4,933
Lawson will have a check for the Salvation Army for their portion of the Christmas auction at the February 16, 2015 meeting. 
 
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting will be Tuesday March 17, 2015 at 11:45 AM.  The Lima Rotary Foundation and the $100,000 Committee will be invited to join the meeting.
