Here are the highlights from the June 14 board meeting.
 
Call to Order                                
President David Runk called the meeting to order with the following present: Esther Baldridge, Harold Bischoff, Paul Crow, Anne Decker, Peggy Ehora, David Frost, and Jeff Tracy.  Also present were Treasurer Kevin Bill and Secretary Rita Brown.  Club Member Lauren Swick attended as a guest.
     Attendance Report
Rita Brown reported 30 members resigned this past fiscal year with 20 new members joining.   May attendance indicated 177 members with 48.87% attendance.
      Club Service Awards
The Board reviewed the nominees for the Service Awards for 2015 – 2016 in the five areas of service – Club, Community, International, Vocational and Youth.  Winners will be acknowledged at the Changing of the Guard Party for their exemplary leadership and dedication to the Club. 
Changing of the Guard                 
The Changing of the Guard Party will be Monday June 27th from 11:30 AM – 1 PM at City Club.  Mary Elmquist-Lane and Rita Brown are planning the party.  In addition to the regular activities, newly qualified Paul Harris level members will be acknowledged this year.  Tim Stanford will be the emcee.
 
      President’s Report                                
David Runk provided an update on the Rotaract Club being formed at the University of Northwestern Ohio.  Runk, Frost and Lima Rotarian Lisa Hummel met with advisors at UNOH.  Currently 18 students have expressed interest in being charter members.  They will attend the Rotary meeting on July 18 when District Governor Do Nguyen visits the Lima Club.  Ten of the eighteen who have expressed interest are international students.  The goal is to charter the club by September.  
     President-Elect Report                             
David Frost presented the following report:
•    2016-2017 Contracts and Fee’s for both the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center ($250/week) and Milano’s Café ($9.83/per person, per meal) were discussed and unanimously approved by the Board of Directors. 
•    2016-2017 Stipends of $400 per month for Club Secretary, Treasurer and Social Media were reviewed and approved unanimously by the Board of Directors. 
•    In order to maintain a balanced budget, the Board Of Directors unanimously approved the following increase in dues, effective July 1, 2016: 
o    Individual Members: $25/Quarter 
o    Corporate Members: $50/Quarter 
o    In addition, visitors meals will also be increasing to $15/meeting, with the understanding that members bringing prospective members are eligible to receive credit for the visitors lunch if and when the visitor joins the club. 
o    Over the last 15 plus years, the club has experienced significant increases in dues from Rotary International and District 6600, along with costs pertaining to food service.  Unfortunately, the club can no longer absorb these costs without increasing dues. 
•    Kevin Bill of Rea & Associates will continue to serve as the Lima Rotary Club Treasurer.  Amy Ricker will take over the responsibilities currently being performed by Joy Gentry at Rea & Associates.  Amy’s duties will include, but not limited to: Emailing/Mailing Quarterly Statements & Invoices, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Collection and Transfer of Funds to the Lima Rotary Foundation, as well as fielding general billing questions from the membership.  
•    A balanced budget for the Rotary Year 2016-2017 was presented and unanimously approved by the board of directors.
•    The July Board Meeting will be moved to a special meeting when District Governor Do Nguyen is visiting the Lima Club on Monday July 18, 2016.  The meeting will be a joint meeting with the Board of Directors and the Lima Rotary Foundation.
      Finance                                    
Treasurer Kevin Bill provided the following report:
An email was sent to the Collections Committee of members who currently are 120 days in arrears.  
Bill indicated the club currently has $27,584 in a cash position vs. $86,267 in July 2015.  It trended down as the club made settlement with the Lima Rotary Foundation for many past fund raising events.  The financial statements indicate the club is in good financial shape.  In July, the club will have a $10,000 payment to District 6600 and Rotary International.   Club Members will be invoiced in July.  Paul Crow made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as submitted.   Jeff Tracey seconded the motion.  Board approved.
     Vice President Report (Service Projects)                    
Peg Ehora presented the following report for VP Tracie Sanchez
a.    Social Sub-Committee
i.    Monthly meeting at the Met.  Sponsorships are booked through July 2017.  The event continues to grow.
ii.    Bowling at Westgate - the event will be held Sunday August 6th.   Details will follow.
iii.    Night at the Locos – The Lima Rotary club has agreed to sponsor  it for 3 years – Saturday June 18th will be Rotary Night starting at 7:30 PM.  Tickets are $2 each and are available from David Runk, Dave Frost and Tracie Sanchez.  The Rotaract kids from UNOH are also gathering a group.
b.    Local Projects:
i.    Spring Blood Clinic Results – Lima Memorial Hospital’s bill is $29,004.  The charge for the police officer was $100. Gross Receipts were $40,426.00 leaving a profit for the Foundation of $11 322.00.  Lima Memorial Hospital has agreed to do one clinic a year – the Spring Clinic.  We will need to find 10 – 14 phlebotomists to work the Fall Clinic.
ii.    Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing - Matt Otto reports most of last year’s sponsors are again sponsoring and a few new sponsors have been added.  Currently 23 teams are signed and Matt hopes to sign 2 – 4 more on the day of the event.
iii.    Rally in the Square – will be held on July 15th.  Jim Osmon reports all volunteers are in place.  Please come out to support Lima/Art Space.
iv.    Abilities Field – progress is being made as all parties have met at UNOH to work on the timeline.  Work is being done to start ordering bricks and the banners.  Also work is underway on a plan  after 5 years for Companies to renew their banners for a fee.  
     International Service Update                        
Harold Bischoff reported on the following:
a.    MESA Bike Ride -  Bischoff indicated a hand painted picture honoring Bill Pepple would be presented.  John  Ficorilli is picking it up.  Bischoff indicated the Lima Club did themselves proud again this year.      
b.    Hondurans Water Project     Bob Ruehl has international partners in place and will submit the grant soon.                                                                         
New Business
An application for a transfer from the Wapakoneta Club was received from

Crow made a motion to approve the application and Bischoff seconded the motion.  Board approved.

Ehora made a motion to approve the resignations with regret. Bischoff second the motion.  Board approved.

Runk thanked Baldridge and Bischoff for their service to the Board!
There being no further business, Crow made a motion to adjourn.  Bischoff seconded the motion.  Board approved.
