Rotarians are continuing work on the La Casa orphanage in Honduras.

Ohio Rotarians are continuing their good work with the La Casa orphanage in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Here is their latest report...

The following pictures of our projects seem to justify our reasons for doing these projects.... The response from the community in La Virtud was incredible.   Over 200 people showed up for the dedication of a village of about 350.  It seems that they have over 18 kids signed up for kindergarten..... Outstanding.... Some of them as far as 4 miles away.... They walk to and from school everyday.... with their siblings that go to the primary school next door....

Some of the highlights of the trip....

Our dedication was met with some government officials... The assistant secretary of education and her 4 direct reports were on the trip with us.   She has funding to put an additional 18 teachers in the Meredon... I thought Max was going to cry when it was announced.

Fausto and Max were their usual selves... Max delivers the projects under budget and Fausto is the man upfront with the voice of the people....

Robyn and I were approached by 4 other communities to do additional schools in their villages... No promises were made , but the opportunities are there to do great things....

As you will see, we and the village leaders provided a classroom, fence and playground all for about $15,000...  We were under budget because of the labor provided by the village, so books, desks and schools supplies were bought with the excess money...

The Casa de La Nina project improvements are done.  The water system is still working, the wall is built, the kitchen still clean and the computers still working... All of the girls still there with one addition that week...

Items of interest....

I am speaking at the Archbold club on Friday July 31st at 11:45 about hands on projects with Bob Ruehl...

Potential new projects were looked at ... some not viable, others worth considering... more to follow later...
