LIMA — Michael Vintson Lamb, 63, died Monday, July 11, 2016 from natural causes.

He leaves behind his children, Danny V. Lamb (Melissa) of Sunbury, Ohio and Kathryn E. Shaw (Cris) of Arlington, VA that he continued to raise with his former wife, Elizabeth J. Waggoner (Jay), also of Lima. He leaves three grandchildren - Jack Lamb, Sam Shaw, Nora Lamb and 7 household pets - that he loved with all his heart.

Born in Lima, Ohio in 1953, Mike was a 1971 graduate of Bath High School. He received his Bachelor's in English from Centre College, Danville,KY (he called it the Harvard of the South) and his Masters of Education from University of Dayton. Following a short stint at Buckeye Pipeline, he started his education career at Apollo JVS, followed by Columbus Grove Local Schools. He spent more than 25 years at Perry Local Schools first as high school principal and then superintendent. He was Superintendent at McComb Local Schools for six years and then started as the Shawnee Superintendent in 2013, the district where he had resided his whole working career. Mike was a lifelong member at South Side Christian Church and numerous other local civic organizations and education associations. He was the President of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators from 2015-2016.

Mike was a creature of habit. His daily routine consisted of coffee from the Shawnee McDonald's, caring for his pond and its' residents, and following the national political scene on TV. He spent his last evening on earth attending his 7th Paul McCartney concert with his wife Linda. He spent almost all of his vacations in the Northwoods of Wisconsin where he loved to fish, look for deer, and make life-long memories with his family. He frequently welcomed his students to school and greatly enjoyed recognizing their successes by sending them handwritten notes. He was a witty and loving father who enjoyed texting with his children during Ohio State Football Games. His love and generosity to all will never be forgotten.
