Mike Mullen saw a lot in his 40 year career as a sportscaster.
President Esther brought the meeting to order. John Rockhold had everyone hold hands in prayer and then did the pledge. Harold Bischoff lead us in a course of God Bless America. Dick Warren previewed the famed Elvis Bust that he purchased at last years Christmas auction.It was decided that the high bidder at this years auction will get the opportunity to "donate" the bust to a friend who has to display it all year long. I think the the Elvis bust is going to bring some big bucks this year. Then Dick Schroder informed us that we can make our donations to the Rotary Foundation on line in line with Cyber Monday.
Our featured speaker was long time sports broadcaster and now author Mike Mullin. Mike provided us with many interesting stories from his 40 years of broadcasting High School Sports in the Lima area. Mike shared with us his early broadcasting days long before the internet and cell phones, when the only available media for instant news was radio. Mike has had the good fortune to broad cast games that involved 3 former Mr. Ohio basketball players along with the many games he broadcast that involved future NFL and NBA players.Mike has wrote a book( Mullen it over) with many of the great stories during his 40 year career in the area and it is available at Readmore Book Store or on line at www.miothebook.com
