Food is big business for Allen County.
 
Jon Rockhold led the membership in singing "Let me Call you Sweetheart" in honor of Valentine's Day. Jeff Tracy raised some bucks for fellowship, and Esther announced the first ever formation of a Rotary Interact Club at Bath high school.
 
Our speaker was Eric Davis, who gave us an introduction of food production in our general area. This economic segment actually comprises over 17% our our county's gnp - over 800 million dollars per year.
 
Andy Wannemacher talked about his operations in the county. One is the manufacturing plant in Lima and Van Wert for honey - formerly the Stoeller Honey company. When another corporation purchased the honey plant, they selected Wannemacher to run the local plant. Of some importance is that 18% of all honey produced in the US runs through their Van Wert plant.
 
They also have a plant that is highly specialized, using a process called Spray Drying to convert liquids into powders. This includes spices, powdered milk, and other food additives.
