Local businesses are being encouraged to be 'Alzheimer's Friendly.'
Invocation was by Roy Baldridge - with fellowship by Andy Farley.
Andy shared with us a humorous look at "Ohio people verses Tennessee people."
The club received a nice letter from Bart Mills, chairman of the Council for the Arts of Greater Lima. He complemented us on the recent Rotary Pavilion renovation.
Two new members were inducted today:
Joy Reichenbach - Executive Director of Lima Convalescent Home
Ty Lotz - Operations Manager for Dominion
Our speaker was Dana Kortokrax, owner of the local Home Instead Senior Care franchise. She informed the club of a new concern with businesses in dealing with customers with dementia, and is offering certification courses to that end. 1 in 9 people in the US (not 1 in 9 elderly - but 1 in 9 people) have been diagnosed with some type of Dementia - and the number is expected to skyrocket to 3 in 9 by 2050. This demographic still buys billions in goods and services, and a prudent business should plan to deal with the special challenges associated with this group.
