A great history lesson from Jim Bowsher...
Our invocation was by Michael Frueh - and he stated that the most important thing we have to be thankful for is that we have a choice of who we want to pray to here in the US. Keep in mind that all Rotary members are not as fortunate...
6 new members were inducted today - welcome !!
We received a nice thank you letter from mayor David Berger for the newly renovated Rotary Pavilion.
Cindy Wood introduced local historian Jim Bowsher - builder of the Temple of Tolerance in Wapakoneta, Ohio. (Recently visited by Alice Cooper)
Jim always gives us a great presentation - this one on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. He showed us artifacts he recovered from the largest maritime disaster in American history - the explosion of the steamship Sultanna near Memphis. Jim was able to find several items himself - even though the site is now 2 miles from where the river now flows.
He also talked about the Hatfield/McCoy feud, and the Civil War Stars and Bars (The 1st Confederate Flag)
