"Do something!" is President David's inspiring message for Lima Rotarians. Rotary International's motto this year is "Be a gift to the world" and President David says we should discover what we're passionate about, and then do something about it. David says we have a long track record of giving through such things as the Rotary Riverwalk, the Children's Christmas Party, scholarships, Polio Plus, and much more. This year he'd like to see us be more active and visible in the community and take on new projects, like the effort to clean up Lake Erie and the outreach to treat those with cataracts in Costa Rica. "We can stand out from the crowd in new and exciting ways. We will achieve great things for those less fortunate, and bring our gifts to the world."
Also at today's meeting, Elaine and Andy Maravola presented a $1,000 check to the Abilities Ball Field...proceeds from Sunday's car show at Westgate Entertainment Center; and during Fellowhsip, Dave Cockerell shared some inappropriate comments from the Bad Boys' Table, along with Ralph's response to them: "What'd he say?"
We said goodbye to President Esther and hello to President David at the Changing of the Guard.
Our MC today was Tim Stanford, with some assistance from Michael Schoenhofer. Invocation by Roy Baldridge, who seemed to utter a small prayer of thanks under his breath...
Cindy Wood gave us a review of the Rotary Foundation's stellar year, and introduced the foundation board's three new members: Jeff Fitzgerald, Butch Kirk, and Judge Warren.
