Past Due Policy
The Board of Directors of the Lima Rotary Club has adopted a new past due policy.
As most club members are aware, the Lima Rotary Club Board of Directors has been making a considerable effort to reign in outstanding dues over the last six months.  As mentioned from the podium at past meetings and previous editions of the eSpoke, this is a problem that has “plagued” our club for a long time.  Efforts to collect outstanding dues has been a challenging task, but many members have really stepped up over the last couple months to help the board get the ship back on course. Over the last six months, the receivables have improved from $34,355.00 outstanding to $14,681.00. We still have work to do and everyone’s efforts to review the status of their personal account is a task on which we all need to remain vigilant.  If you’re having any issues receiving your invoice, please let me, Dave Frost or Kevin Bill know as soon as possible.  Likewise, if there are issues regarding the amount due of one kind or another, please let me know personally and I’ll do what I can to assist with the issue.

Additionally, on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, The Lima Rotary Club Board Of Directors unanimously passed an amendment to the Lima Rotary Constitution.  The amendment, provided herein, will go into effect January 1, 2016.

Past Due Policy –  Article 12 Duration of Membership  Section 3 Termination – Non-payment of Dues  Paragraph (a) Process   Any member failing to pay dues within ninety (90) days after the due date shall be notified in writing by the President at the member’s last known address.  If the dues are not paid, and or a written response outlining a payment schedule is not received, on or before ten (10) days of the date of notification, membership may terminate, subject to the discretion of the board.

The participation and engagement of every member of our club is very important to the work that we do locally and internationally.  We all have a responsibility to share our Time, Talent and Treasure with others.  That’s why we joined Rotary in the first place, right?

Thank you to everyone who has worked hard to get the ship back on course and also for your efforts to keep it there.

Sincerely yours in Rotary,

David Runk and Dave Frost

The Scoop - December 14, 2015
Lima City School and Marimor students put on a wonderful holiday show for the Lima Rotary Club.
Father Ross led the club in prayer, followed by a brief discussion over the end of the Hanukah holiday. We are reminded us that regardless of what faith we may practice; be gracious in helping others celebrate their holiday of choice.

Leslie Frye was in charge of Fellowship, where she stepped in the controversial topic (with Carl Berger's help) of which generation is the weakest. She did a nice job of trashing millennials, without actually trashing millennials. (Editor's note: I'm sure there are meeting minutes somewhere trashing the baby boomers, and every generation before them...

David Runk presented a Paul Harris Fellowship in Art Brinkmann's name to his family - we wish them the best of luck in their life journey.

Our program today was the Liberty Arts Magnet and a splendid holiday choral show. The talent of our youth never disappoints - and I look forward to this annually to kickstart the holiday season.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all Lima Rotarians !!

Christmas Auction
Lima Rotary Club's Christmas Auction was a huge success!
Where could you do your Christmas shopping, be entertained by the Lima City Schools Arts Magnet students, enjoy a parade of festive sweaters and raise money for charity all at the same time? At the Lima Rotary Club's Christmas Auction, of course? The room was packed for the annual auction which raises money for the Lima Rotary Foundation and the Salvation Army. Dozens of wonderful gifts were auctioned off with the highlight being a ride in a Lima-built M1 tank which was won by Larry Webb. Jeff Sprague and Tracie Sanchez got into the spirit of the season and won the Festive Christmas Sweater/Tie contest, and Mike Schoenhofer was the lucky member who will have the bust of Elvis decorating his office for the next year. Thanks to everyone who made the day a huge success!

Interact
The Bath Interact Club has had a busy year. Read all about it!
First, our group started talking about suicide awareness and things that we as a community could do to stop suicide from happening. We decided on having a suicide "Variety Show", in which many talented people from our community performed for the school. We made presentations, stated facts, and provided a suicide hotline for people who needed help. We also stressed that people in are community are here to help and if they are thinking about suicide they should talk to somebody. Students signed a "Give Hope" banner that is displayed in a show case at our school. Next, we decide on having hot chocolate socials, in which students can meet in the mornings and have hot chocolate. During these meetings we hope for students to express themselves and talk about any concerns they are having. So far we have had two hot chocolate socials and they were very successful. We are currently planning many more events and hope to continue to have success during them.
Happy Holidays,
Bath INTERACT

Foundation
Please donate to the Rotary Foundation this season.
This is the time of year when nearly everyone thinks about charitable contributions.  There are a variety of reasons why this is so.  We, as Rotarians, generally think about this more often throughout the year.  Why?  Because we know that every year, hundreds of thousands of people — children, families, and entire communities — benefit from projects funded by The Rotary Foundation. When you give to Rotary, you enable local leaders to create sustainable solutions to their community's most pressing needs.

Frequently throughout the year, we are reminded of the EREY program – Every Rotarian Every Year.  Although Rotary gives back in countless ways, we focus our service efforts in six areas: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.  There is always so much to do, both locally and internationally.

With your support we can do even more. By making a gift of any size, you can be part of this positive change.  Now is an even better time to be part of this program.  Through the generosity of fellow Rotarians in District 6600, the Individual Giving Incentive Campaign has been rolled out.  This incentive plan ends on December 31.  Expand the culture of giving and gratitude in our district and help our club meet the One Rotary Challenge!

Take Action through Every Rotarian, Every Year
  • Any Rotarian who did not give in 2014-15 who gives at least $100 to the Foundation either by check to his or her Club Foundation Chair or commits to donating through Rotary Direct will be awarded 100 additional recognition points toward their Paul Harris Fellow The Rotary Direct option allows those who don’t wish to give all at once the opportunity to participate in the program by committing to a recurring gift at the amount of their choice equaling or exceeding $100 per year.
  • Any new Rotarian since July 1 who donates at least $100 to the Rotary Foundation to start a NEW Paul Harris Fellow for herself or himself, or any Rotarian that starts a new account for a non-Rotarian (e.g. spouse, child, grandchild, etc.) will be awarded 200 recognition points (limit two per Rotarian) via a cash/check donation or Rotary Direct.
Join Leaders with the Paul Harris Society
  • Any Rotarian who did not give in 2014-15 but who donates $1,000 or more by check to our Club Foundation or through Rotary Direct and commits to donating $1,000 per year for three years becomes a member of the Paul Harris Society and will be awarded 1,000 additional recognition points toward another Paul Harris Fellow.

The most important thing to remember, though, is that no gift is too small.  We all have much to be thankful for.  Let’s be sure to share what we have with others who are in need.
Please join me in supporting The Rotary Foundation.  It is an honor to be a member of such a generous organization.

Blessings to you all,

David Runk
