Quarterly assessments will help fund our Centennial Celebration.
Please note that you will find assessments on your invoices to help fund our Centennial Celebration. The first assessment was $50, and you will receive assessments of $25 on each of your next two quarterly invoices. These assessments will help pay for our anniversary gala on March 21, and you will also receive either a Rotary tie or scarf. These assessments are not optional. Please pay them promptly to help us celebrate 100 years of the Lima Rotary Club. Thank you.

Rotary continues to fight the battle against polio.
Larry Webb provided fellowship, and loaded the coffers nicely by fining the fans of various colleges, and bowl game winners.

1/15 is the next Inside Scoop - held in the morning at the Wingate. Contact Esther or David Runk for the specifics...

Our program was an update on Polio Plus, and was an excellent insight into the most important service club project ever attempted. Just think - a bunch of business folk, working hard to keep companies afloat and personal families fed - collectively wiped out a major disease from 99% of the planet. The term - "Many hands, light work" never had a better example.

In 1995, polio was infecting over 1000 people per day. Now, only 3 countries still have regular polio outbreaks: Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria.
GREAT NEWS - Nigeria is on target to be polio free for the first time in 2015 !!

Most of the troubled areas remaining are difficult to reach, and are controlled by religious extremists that oppose vaccinations. Only education and persistence will work to clear up these last pockets of the disease - fortunately, Rotary is pretty darn good with both of those ingredients...

We are 99% complete - and Rotary is committed to finish the job.
