2007
-
Implemented the installation of a water project in
Los Navarretes, Chalatenango, El Salvador.
The project was created to develop a water supply of
drinking water for the community. Prior to this
project the people drew their water from a nearby
creek. The work on this project consisted of about
4000 meters of piping for a distribution system.
The people dug a trench for the piping, built a
hanging bridge for the pipe and constructed a
storage and chlorination tank. Training was
conducted to teach the people how to maintain the
system as well as basic hygiene. The people
hooked up their own individual homes per a local
agreement. The value of the project was about
$25,000.

Improving education in Central America was
facilitated by the Ohio Schools program. As
new schools are built in Ohio, the Lima Rotary Club
International Service Committee acquired the school

Salvador were improve by this effort. The used
equipment furnished computer labs, libraries, music

the teaching of English in the schools. W
We
shipped 300 computers to the schools of El Salvador.
Maquilishuat Rotary developed a unique agreement
with the Ministry of Education to Rehab the
equipment and make it usable for the local schools.
Computer labs were established and distributions
made. The computers were supplied by MESA.
We
acquired approximately 600 desks, chairs, lunch
tables, pianos, globes and other school furnishings
from the Willa Krall School in Galion Ohio. Lima
Committee members worked several days in Galion
preparing the shipments. On the day of shipment the
entire Galion Rotary Club turned out to assist in
the loading of the two trucks.
Each shipment of school furnishings contained
copiers furnished by Perry Corporation.
