The Scoop - April 24, 2023
The Lima Rotary Club was honored to host the Allen Lima Youth Leadership graduation.
Twenty members of the Allen Lima Youth Leadership presented proposals for projects to Lima Rotarians Monday in hope of winning $2,500 to fund their visions. The three projects were:
United Youth - ending discrimination and bullying by raising awareness of the problem with an educational event featuring local speakers
Furnishing Friends - providing necessities like toiletries, towels and other necessities to local homeless shelters, and purchasing directly from the suppliers to save money
Feeding Our Future - producing a pamphlet to educate the community about the problems of youth malnutrition
Rotarians had the opportunity to vote on which project they liked the best, and we chose Furnishing Friends. These students will receive $2,500 from ALL to fund their project.
Following the presentations, students graduated from the program, having spent the past year learning about their wider community, discovering and developing their own leadership styles and practicing team building and communication skills. Congratulations!

Also at Monday's meeting, we inducted three new members into the Lima Rotary Club, Jon Neeper from Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, and Lynn Carpenter and Dr. Nonso Ezema from Lima Memorial Health System. Welcome to the Lima Rotary Club!
