Jay Begg
We are sorry to report the passing of former Allen County Commissioner and Club Member Jay Begg. Jay passed from an injury he suffered from a fall last November 2019.
Jay served as an Allen County Commissioner from January 2013 until March 2020. He had previously served for many years as the Manager of the Allen County Fair.

He joined the Lima Rotary Club in March 2010. During his time as an active Club Member, Jay served as a Trustee on the Lima Rotary Foundation Board and also as a Director on the Rotary Board of Directors. He also introduced Elvis to the Club Members at our Annual Christmas Party. His dedication and sense of fun will be truly missed by all of us.

Please keep Mrs.  Begg and their family in your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. The Club will also reach out to Mrs. Begg with a Memorial in his Honor from the Club.

The Scoop - October 26, 2020
"Rotary moment" turns district governor into Rotarian.
Rotary District 6600 Governor Keith Hodkinson encourages us to broaden our Rotary horizons. "The real lifesaving humanitarian work of Rotary happens far away from Northwest Ohio. It happens in the mountains of Honduras, the hot humid cities of India, the cold villages in Mongolia. Rotary is everywhere doing everything for so many people and there are so many people that are in Rotary that have absolutely no idea what it is we do."

Keith experienced his Rotary moment eight years ago. His Tiffin Rotary Club invested in a project in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and Keith went along to help. They spent a week working in an orphanage for girls doing repairs and maintenance. The girls had had only two working toilets for three years. One of Keith's jobs was to repair the other three. "It was there on my back under a toilet in the most dangerous city in the world that I had my Rotary moment. With three Spanish speaking girls staring down at me, looking at me with smiles like they had just received a puppy on Christmas morning, all because the last of the toilets flushed. The most basic thing in the world and they were grateful. They gave me a gift. A huge gift. They taught me why I am a Rotarian."

"If all you do is come here for lunch on Monday at 12:00 noon and never doing anything out side of your club, you're missing out on a big part of what being a Rotarian is." Keith encourages us to get involved in Rotary and do our part to help make the world a better place.

Waynesfield Goshen students reach their $15,000 goal to dig a well in the Congo.
Back in March, Waynesfield Goshen 5th grade students made a presentation to the Lima Rotary Club about their efforts to raise $15,000 to dig a well in the Congo. Lima Rotarians generously donated $800 to the project that day and were the catalyst for other donations. This week, the students reached their goal. Click this link for the all the details. • $60 - provides 400 children with this lifesaving vaccine
We are asking every Rotarian to consider donating at least $50 in our efforts to eradicate polio.  Every dollar donated will be matched with an additional two dollars by the Gates Foundation.

Visit the link below to donate and don’t forget to share this donation page with others.  Together we can eradicate polio and save numerous children from this disease!
