Golf Outing
Golfers! Register or volunteer now for the Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing on August 26!
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the annual Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing. The date has been moved to Wednesday, August 26th at Hidden Creek Golf Course with lunch from Western Sizzlin Steakhouse. The Golf Committee is working closely with Hidden Creek Golf Course to ensure our participants' safety. The Committee is also staying abreast to the most current recommendations set forth by the Ohio governor regarding the best practices for staying safe during the on-going Coronavirus pandemic. Since standards and protocols are continuously being changes and updated the format and what happenings that will take place on the day of the event are still undergoing planning, but rest assured that the day will be both exhilarating and competitive. Contact Andy Wannemacher today to register as an individual or team at 419-231-3209 or andyw@wanntl.com.
We still need volunteers. Contact Shannon if you can help at shannons@wanntl.com or at 567-940-1007.
Last year we had 21 teams competing and raised over $43,000, all of which went to benefit the Rotary Foundation Scholarship Fund. The Rotary Memorial Scholarship Fund selects persons who live or work in Allen County who are in pursuit of a degree or certification and will attend a school or college in Allen County. The intent of the scholarship is to encourage Allen County employees and residents to work and plan for their futures within our county.  As of March 2020, over 1,046 adults wishing to continue their education have received scholarships from the Lima Rotary Club. These scholarships total over $776,250. Degrees or certifications can be achieved at the Apollo Career Center (Adult Education), Bluffton University, Rhodes State College, The Ohio State University at Lima and the University of Northwestern Ohio.  All residents who live in and employees who work in Allen County are eligible.

The Scoop - August 10, 2020
It's that time of season, it's that time of year. The Allen County Fair is here!
Just a month before the beginning of the Allen County Fair, Governor DeWine restricted all fairs to junior fairs only due to the coronavirus pandemic. Allen County Fair Manager Bob Fricke told us that as a result, this year's fair is shorter than usual; it runs from August 21-27th and it is closed to the public. "We're going to back to what fairs started out as. They were livestock exhibits and harness racing was there. Then they grew into the commercial exhibits. This is going back to the most simplistic fair, probably it's what we started out as." There will be harness racing with no audience, the traditional livestock auction on August 27th at noon, and food vendors. Fricke says they've asked that the food vendors stay on the fairgrounds on the 28th and 29th to serve any members of the public who want their annual fix of fair food. Grandstand headliner Brad Paisley has rescheduled his concert for August 21, 2021. This year's tickets will be honored next year, or ticket holders can get a refund if they like.
On a positive note, Fricke told us that they have plans to construct a 60,000 square foot expo building. It will replace the aging sheep show arena, sheep barn and goat barn, and when the fair isn't going on, it can be used for commercial events and shows since it will be climate controlled. Fricke hopes to break ground in 2022 and be able to use it in 2023.

                Treasurer Report                                                                                                                 Dan Best
Best shared comparative information on the Balance Sheet for the Previous Year. He indicated Current Assets are up as this year’s figures include payables collected for the Rotary Golf Outing and Every Rotarian Every Year.  Those figures will net out with time.

Comparisons from the Profit and Loss Statement indicate Net Income is up.  Best stated District 6600 did not charge dues to the Clubs in the District for the first six months of fiscal year 2020 – 2021.  In addition, the Club is just beginning to meet F2F and attendance is still lower than usual so payment for meeting expense is less.

Members also reviewed the Accounts Receivables Aging Summary.  Best continues to work with those members in arrears.  Board Members will continue to monitor and determine if further action needs to be taken.

Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as submitted.  Farley seconded the motion.  Board approved.

Interact
Bath High School Interact Club activity in limbo.
We have not yet received specific guidance from school administration about how clubs will operate during the 2020-21 school year. It is unclear if we will be able to meet and if so, how those meetings will look. There are also restrictions on visitors coming in to the school, so we will have to address that as well. Finally, it is uncertain how we will cooperate with our partners which provide volunteer opportunities to our students. We hope that we will be able to overcome these obstacles and still be able to provide an opportunity for our club members to participate in a meaningful way.

On a positive note, the Bath HS Interact Club has launched its annual Spirit Den fundraiser with new school logos and apparel for adults, youth and toddlers. Interested persons may shop online at Proforma.com/bathspirit
Proceeds from our sales help fund our club’s school and community projects as well as our two annual scholarships.

Membership Workshops
Learn how to encourage new members and retain current members in the Tri-District Membership Workshop.

It becomes even more apparent that our focus on the facets of membership are even more critical. Whatever they are (new member acquisition , orientation, member engagement and retention, and different types of memberships), having a club membership chair or committee are paramount to sustain a vibrant club.

As your district membership chair, I implore you to have representation for our Tri-District Membership Workshop (our district is hosting it this year!), on either of the dates listed. This letter will provide all the details, but please let me know if you have questions - you know that I will respond to your needs.

Please register on Zoom using the links provided in the letter.

Thank you, and "see you" in mid-September!

John Hill
