The American Cancer Society is focused on four main goals.

Dave Cockerell led the club in prayer and our 4 way test - with Andy Farley providing fellowship and a few IRS facts and jokes...

Michael Ayers announced that anyone wanting a copy of the club group photo should contact him. The price for a framed copy is $93, with even the framing materials manufactured in Ohio.

Rita showed the membership the gift sculpture that local artist Joe Bonifas created - to be given to our speaker at the centennial dinner. There has been some interest in creating additional copies - anyone so inclined should contact Rita Brown.

Our speakers were several employees of the American Cancer Society (Jesse Purcell, Maybeth Torsell, and Karla Batt) - one of the largest organizations of its kind, with offices in over 900 locations in the US alone. Established in 1913 - the group is focused on 4 main goals: Prevent - Care - Cure - Advocate.

Much more than just aiding in cancer research - considerable emphasis is spent on promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Their efforts to encourage colorectal screenings for example, have saved thousands of lives. Local fundraising events are the Relay for Life and the newer Strides against Breast Cancer. The organization offers many programs for companies and individuals in healthy lifestyle choices, smoking cessation, and even free wigs for cancer patients that need them. All of their programs are free of charge.
