Elizabeth Brown provided fellowship, and hosted a Veteran's Day Trivia Quiz. For each correct answer - she threw out Lindt Chocolate golden bears, which kept everyone interested. (The bear was delicious !)

Joe Patton introduced our speaker - Doug Arthur of LINK Lima - who spoke about next week's Makerfest event and workforce development in the next decade.
 
Lima is actually experiencing a shortage of qualified personnel in the professional areas. Medical support staff, middle management, and technical trades are all having trouble filling employment needs. The Makerfest job fair has been created to help build a strong worker pool for area business to draw from when needed. Getting candidates that are pre-qualified is the key to getting a rapid response...
 
The number one problem facing workforce development in the next decade is not lack of personnel - not lack of training - not foreign competition. Our biggest problem is a poor perception of Lima - both internal and external - and that is preventing us from moving forward. Makerfest was designed to show local area youth that there are good jobs in highly technical fields right here in Lima - and that they should consider staying in the area rather than moving away...
