April Board Meeting Highlights
· Observations from District Assembly March 31 2012: Lima had the most members represented of any club. Rotarians realized the more projects we can do as a club the more engaged membership will be.
· President-Elect Jim Osmon thanked everyone for filling out the Membership Involvement Survey. The results of the survey have been compiled and will be distributed to committee chairs so they can contact members to participate.
· Osmon also shared the Red Badge Program explanation with the board which will soon be shared with Club Membership.
· The current Civic Center Contract expires in June. During the discussion of future options, Cindy Wood excused herself from the discussion. Bob Ruehl suggested getting bids from other places to show the comparison of market price. Acoustics was a concern in the big room that is currently being used. A piano cannot go into the City Club so Jerry Courtney suggested a keyboard if that would be chosen for future meetings. Osmon will get a quote from Cindy Wood and the Civic Center as well as the City Club with multiple food options including Milano’s. Osmon suggested two options:
1. The City Club as the regular meeting place for meetings but will be slightly more of a hassle on the
book keeping side because the Civic Center rents from the Chamber.
2. Extend the current room contract with existing price.
· The Board approved Jack Goodnight become an honorary Rotarian.
· Next Big Project Vote is complete. 87 ballots returned out of 195 sent out. The NBP committee will tabulate and report to the Board then the club.
· The Club will have a special recognition for Dr. David Steiner on May 14, 2012 at the regular lunch meeting where Media will be present.
Two Rotarians were approved for termination after not paying their dues. Letters of termination will be sent to Jason Upthegrove and Shane Francis. These Rotarians will have the opportunity to dispute the termination with the board if they so choose.
Kurt Neeper was proposed and approve as a New Member to the Lima Rotary Club.
The Club Audit passed and was clean and will be placed in the annual meeting notes on May 23, 2012.
The Board approved funding for a new International project seed money proposals by Bob Ruehl. $500 will go towards needs assessment for proposed project.
This years Blood Clinic is scheduled for May 5, 2012.
