Here are the highlights from the August 12 board meeting.
Call to Order                                                                                                               Russ Decker
President Russ Decker called the meeting to order at 11:35 A.M. with the following board members present: Russ Decker, Craig Kupferberg, Jennifer Mason, Aaron McLaurine, Beth Seibert, Corey Frazer, Richard Warren, Demi Burden and Berlin Carroll. Also, Secretary Anne Decker, Treasurer Jason Bice, and bookkeeper Amy Ricker were present.

Approval of the July 8, 2025 Board Meeting Minutes
Kupferberg made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 8, 2025 board meeting. Mason seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Attendance Report for July 2025
Three new members joined the club and one member resigned in July. July attendance was 37.068%. The month ended with 140 active members and 2 honorary members.            
 
President’s Report                                                                                                     Russ Decker
Lorain Police Fundraiser
The club passed the bucket to raise money for the family of the Lorain police officer who was killed in the line of duty on July 23. $505 was raised. The Lima Rotary Foundation donated another $500. The money is being sent to the Lorain Rotary Club which will distribute the funds.
 
Beer Barrel Fundraiser
The Beer Barrel Dine & Donate fundraiser raised $138 for the club.
 
Blood Clinic
The Blood Clinic held on May 3 raised $4,699.83 for the Lima Rotary Foundation. Blood Clinic Co-Chair Mike Swick presented a check to Foundation President Troy Elwer at the July 28 meeting.
 
 
Fair Ticket Takers
The Lima Rotary Club is taking tickets at the Allen County Fair’s grandstand events in exchange for a $1,000 donation to the club. Volunteers are being sought.
 
Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing
The Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for August 22. Teams and sponsors are still being sought.
 
Holiday Home Tour
Two homes have been secured for the Holiday Home Tour on December 7. Decker would like to have at least three more homes on tour and asked board members to talk to their friends and neighbors about it. $10,000 in sponsorships have already been committed.
 
Mini Pavilion Update
Russ Decker stated that students at Apollo Career Center will pour the slab for the mini pavilion the club is building at Safety City once school begins. The students are drawing up plans for the pavilion and will build it. Russ Decker submitted a $2,500 grant to District 6600 to help pay for materials. He would like the club to pass out candy at Safety City Trick-or-Treat on October 25.
 
Location of Board Meetings
Russ Decker contacted Shawnee Country Club about moving the location of the board meetings there. The club’s menu prices are comparable to those of The Met and the club will not charge us a room rental fee. Mason made a motion to move the club’s meetings to Shawnee Country Club. Seibert seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
District Governor’s Visit
Rotary District 6600 Governor Pam Brumbaugh will speak to the Lima Rotary Club on September 29. Russ Decker told the board that she will be spending the night in Lima. Following the meeting, he plans to give her a tour of our many community projects and invite her to dinner with board members.
 
Rotary Zones 30 & 31 Institute
Rotary Zone 30 & 31 Institute will be held September 4-7 in Columbus with Rotarians from 11 states expected to be in attendance. Carroll made a motion to offer reimbursement of up to $500 in expenses for up to two Lima Rotarians to attend the event. Warren seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Treasurer’s Report                                                                                                     Jason Bice          
Bice shared information from the club’s Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet. The club’s total income through June 30, 2025 is $30,618.52. Total expenses are $14,981.61. Net income is $15,636.91.
Burden made a motion to approve the June and July treasurer’s reports. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Russ Decker suggested that the accounts receivable report should not include donations requested by the club on quarterly invoices, only dues and the mandatory contribution to the Lima Rotary Foundation. Bice and Ricker will meet to consider the suggestion.
 
New Business                                                                                                             Russ Decker
Reinstatement
McLaurine made a motion to approve a request for reinstatement from Andy Wannemacher. Bice seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Resignations
Mason made a motion to approve the resignations of Tracey Regula, Georgiana Saffle and Jill Ackerman with regret. Kupferberg seconded the motion. Board approved.
Burden made a motion to accept the resignation of Jim Chiles with regret and to make him an honorary member of the club. Warren seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Motion To Adjourn
Frazer made a motion to adjourn the meeting. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved. Decker adjourned the meeting at 12:37 P.M.
