Here are the highlights of the December 12th board meeting.
Call to Order                                          Tracie Sanchez
President Sanchez called the meeting to order at 11:42 with the following board members present:  Jill Ackerman, Paul Crow, Ken Dysert, Dave Frost, Susan Hubbell, Jed Metzger, Tracie Sanchez, Catheryn Sarno, Paul Swartz, Jeff Tracy and David Runk.  Also Treasurer Kevin Bill and Secretary Rita Brown were present.

Christmas bonuses
As Monday December 18th is the last meeting of the year, the Club will award our traditional Christmas bonuses to our three servers from the Milano Club – June Miller, Michelle Rudasill and Tammy Barnhart.  Sanchez also requested a bonus for Sammie Zimmerman from the VMCCC as Sammie has been our go-to person and has provided excellent customer service for the club.  Tracy made a motion to grant $300 bonuses to each of the four.  Bill seconded the motion.  Board approved. 
            Salvation Army Payment
Frost made a motion to pre-fund the Salvation Army before Christmas in the amount of $5,000.  The money will be raised from the proceeds of the Rotary Christmas Party and the upcoming Reverse Raffle.  Sarno seconded the motion.  Board approved.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
The Club will hold a Blood Drive on January 15, 2018 from 10 AM – 3 PM.  The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be
Out front of the VMCCC as the Club will be meeting in the City Club that day. 
            New Interact Club- Spencerville
Lima Rotarians Chris Hardesty and Laura Meyer are in the process of starting an Interact Club in the Spencerville School District.  Chief Joe Kitchen will serve as a Mentor to the Club. 
President Elect Report                            Paul Swartz
Piggy for Polio
Swartz indicated the Piggy for Polio (pennies for polio) fundraiser is going very well.  The jar is present at each club meeting and available for members’ donations.   As it is getting very heavy, it may be emptied and the drive began again.
Jan-Mar polio fundraiser
The Club will hold weekly auctions again this year at each club meeting during Jan, Feb and March with benefits designated for Polio Plus.  Jeff Tracy will serve as auctioneer.
The Showcase is nearly completed and will be installed in the North Hall at the VMCCC next week. Frost’s goal is to have it ready for display when the club meets again in January 2018. 
Vice President ReportKen Dysert
Buenos Noches Fund Raiser
Dysert has met with Bob Ruehl and Harold Bischoff from the International Committee regarding their Fundraiser to benefit the Buenos Nochos Fund.  They currently are receiving some donations to the fund.  No fund raising project has been selected to –date.
Donations of used medical, dental and optometrist office equipment and furniture are being sought for MESA.  It will be stored in the warehouse in Fostoria until it is transported to Central America. 
Board Reports:
Special Needs Christmas Party recap       Dr. Susan Hubbell
The Christmas Party was held last Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Shawnee United Methodist Church.  Sixty- seven students and thirty-five Rotarians attended the party.  A total of sixty-eight Rotarians participated in the planning for the event.  The children each received gifts and were entertained by Santa and Mrs. Claus and their favorite super heroes. 
            Interact                                                 David Runk
The Bath School Club has 80 active members.  They assisted with the recent Special Needs Christmas Party and have a full schedule of winter events scheduled.
The members recently attended a Peace Conference offered by the Findlay Rotary Club.  They recently Adopted a Family for the Christmas and are buying gifts for the family with the money they raised from the sale of their Christmas Ornaments at a recent Rotary Club Meeting. 
Membership ideas                                  David Frost
Frost indicated the Membership Committee will be actively pursuing new members starting in January 2018.  Members will be encouraged to bring guests who have interest in joining the club to meetings at no charge for a period of one month. 
4-way speech/essay                               Jill Ackerman
Ackerman indicated the materials were shared with the schools on October 25, 2017, and to-date, the Lima City Schools, Perry and Elida have agreed to participate.   The Speech Contest will be held at Lima Senior High on Saturday March 3, 2018.
Salvation Army bell ringing                     Paul Crow
Crow stated the Bell Ringing will be held this upcoming Saturday December 16, 2017 at the Lima Mall, Toys R Us and Kewpee West.  All volunteers are in place. 
Reverse Raffle/Christmas Raffle  Cat Sarno
Sarno indicted the Reverse Raffle will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018.  Planning is underway.  
Plans for this year’s Christmas Raffle have been finalized.  Some changes from the past raffles can be anticipated.
Sarno stated there will be no December Social Meeting.  More sight visits will be planned in the new year.                                                                                     
Treasurer’s Report                                 Kevin Bill
            Aging Report
Bill stated the report is at an all-time low with only three members being at the $500 or higher mark.  Additional actions will be taken after the holidays.
Bill stated the Balance Sheet shows a balance of $38,377.11 in the Checking Account currently.   Member statements will go out in January 2018.  The only upcoming large bills will be the dues owned to Rotary International and District 6600 in Jan 2018.  Frost made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as submitted.  Hubbell seconded the motion.  Board approved. 
New Business: Rita Brown
The Board recognized the pass service and contributions of former Rotarian Kelli DeLong who passed away on November 8, 2017                                            
Sarno made a motion to accept the resignations of Evans Pseekos and David Collins with regret.  Frost seconded the motion.  Board approved. 
There being no further business, Sanchez adjourned the meeting at 12:55 PM.
