Here are the highlights from the December 11 board meeting.
Call to Order                                                                                     Paul Swartz
President Swartz called the meeting together at 11:37 AM with the following members present:  Ken Dysert, John Ficorilli, Susan Hubbell, Anne Decker, Catheryn Sarno, Theresa Schnipke, and Jeff Tracy.  Also Secretary Rita Brown.
 
       President’s Report                                                                             Paul Swartz
      Small Projects Coordinator (Committee)
Swartz plans to announce a new role in Jan or Feb 2019 with rollout in Spring 2019.  In order to get involved in short term project work, a Small Projects Coordinator along with a Committee will be organized.  Club members will be asked to participate in assisting programs such a Habitat for Humanity or the Consortium Lead by Russ Thomas. 
 
       Student Exchange 2019-20
The Board expressed interest in being involved again in the Rotary International Student Exchange program.  New club member Craig Kupferberg, who led the team in the Findlay Rotary Club, will be asked to participate.
 
      Sheriff’s Department Exercise Equipment Fund Raiser 
Swartz indicated around $2,000 is still needed.  The goal is to raise that by the end of the December 2018.
 
     Fundraiser Update to cover Bob Ruehl’s traveling expenses to Central America
A total of $1.914 has been raised so far with $1.414 coming from Lima Rotarians and $500 from the Ottawa-Glandorf Rotary Club.
 
       Christmas donation to the Salvation Army
A check in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded to the Salvation Army on Monday December 17, 2018.  The Board discussed holding a Large Auction in 2019 in lieu of the Christmas Auction.
 
       Board Reports:                                                           
      Christmas Party Update                                                               Cat Sarno  
Sarno stated the Wine Raffle is sold out.   Plans are in place for the Christmas Party and Auction.  Jay Begg is helping out with the auction and the Elvis transition from one member to another for the upcoming year.
 
     Salvation Army Update
The Children’s Hats and Gloves Drive is completed and the Bell Ringing will be held this Saturday December 15, 2018.
 
      New Business:                                                                               Rita Brown
     The Board Members signed Christmas Cards for twelve members who rarely can attend due to health reasons.
 
      Resignations
Letters of resignation were received from
  • Otto Bollenbacher
  • Chuck Leidy
  • Jim Parmenter
  • Carol Braden-Clark
The Board discussed the requests of long-term members Bollenbacher, Leidy and Parmenter.  Tracy suggested offering them an option of remaining with the Club as Honorary Members after all their years of service.  There is no charge for them to be Honorary Members and the Club also does not incur a charge from Rotary International or the District.  Dysert made a motion to accept the resignations of Bollenbacher, Leidy and Parmenter with regret but also with the option of remaining with the Club as Honorary Members.  Tracy seconded the motion.  Board approved.  Dysert also made a motion to accept the resignation of Braden-Clark with regret.  Tracy seconded the motion.  Board approved.    
 
       New Member Applications
New Member applications were received from:
  • Kris Schroeder and Sarah Foster from HCF,
  • Scott Cockerell from Wannmacher Logistics,
  • John Jay Brazell from Chamberlain-Huckreide Funeral Home. 
Hubbell made a motion to approve the new member applications.  Sarno seconded the motion.  Board approved.  New member orientation will be held on Thursday January 3, 2019.
 
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:45 PM.
