Here are the highlights from the December 12 board meeting.
Call to Order                                                                                                               Lesley Fry
President Lesley Fry called the meeting to order at 11:40 A.M. with the following board members present:
Lesley Fry, Richard Warren, Demi Burden, Elizabeth Brown-Ellis, Russ Decker, Joel Mengerink and Jeff Unterbrink. Also, Treasurer Tracey Regula, Secretary Anne Decker and bookkeeper Amy Ricker were present.
 
Secretary’s Report                                                                                                     Lesley Fry
Approval of the November 10, 2023 Board Meeting Minutes
Regula made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 14, 2023 board meeting as submitted. Burden seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Attendance Report for November 2023 
One new member joined the club and two members resigned in November. November attendance was 38.049%. The month ended with 148 active members and 3 honorary members.

Corporate Memberships
The committee reviewing corporate members is meeting in January and is expected to have recommendations to share with the board at its February meeting.
 
Barb Perry Memorial Gifts to Scholarship Fund
$2,150 has been donated to the Lima Rotary Club Scholarship Fund in memory of Barb Perry. Decker has sent thank you notes to all donors and will notify Perry’s family of the donations.
 
Salvation Army Bell Ringing
The Lima Rotary Club will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army on December 16.
 
PolioPlus
PolioPlus Chair Keith Horner will outline this year’s PolioPlus campaign to the board at its January 9th meeting.
 
District Governor’s Visit
Rotary District 6600 Governor Jim Duke spoke to the Lima Rotary Club on November 27. He gave an upbeat presentation on the reasons to join Rotary such as fellowship and service.
 
High School Sports Programs
The annual high school football and basketball previews are traditionally poorly attended. The board is considering other ways to spotlight youth during our programs which may have a broader appeal to the club’s membership. Mengerink said he would meet with the other superintendents who are members of the club to explore ideas.
 
Rotary Ideals Literacy Project
The Fairborn, OH Rotary Club has begun the Rotary Ideals Literacy Project which includes two books for children. Fry asked the club if they would be interested in adopting the program and received no response. This may be revisited in the future.
 
District 6600 Conference
The Rotary District 6600 Conference has been scheduled for April 19 and 20 at Maumee Bay State Park. Fry encouraged board members to attend.

Special Needs Christmas Party Recap                                                                        Demi Burden
31 children attended the annual Special Needs Christmas Party on December 9 at Shawnee United Methodist Church. A number of club members purchased gifts for the children and helped at the event, as did the Bath High School Interact Club.
 
Social
The next social meeting is December 15 at 5:00pm at The Met. It includes an ugly Christmas sweater contest.
 
Christmas Extravaganza                                                                                             Lesley Fry
The club’s annual Christmas Extravaganza and auction is December 18. There are 5 live auction items and 20 silent auction items. The Elida High School Chamber choir will provide entertainment.
 
Treasurer’s Report                                                                                                     Tracey Regula
Regula shared information from the Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet. The club’s total income through November 30, 2023 is $56,112.76. Total expenses are $48,358.91. Net income is $7,753.85. Burden moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Brown-Ellis seconded the motion. Board approved.
A number of golf outing invoices remain outstanding. Board members will contact those who have not yet paid.

Unterbrink made a motion to approve the resignations with regret. Regula seconded the motion. Board approved.

 
Transfer
David Trinko has requested to transfer his membership from the Ottawa-Glandorf Rotary Club to the Lima Rotary Club.
Regula made a motion to approve the transfer. Russ Decker seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Motion To Adjourn
Warren made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Regula seconded the motion. Board approved.
President Fry adjourned the meeting at 1:01 P.M.
