Club members have approved the criteria for our $100,000 investment in the community.

President Esther Baldridge called the club assembly to order.  She explained the purpose of today’s club assembly was to review the criteria established for the proposed $100,000 the club has agreed to invest in our community during the centennial year. The concept was first discussed and approved on January 14, 2014, at a Joint Board meeting between the Lima Rotary Foundation and the Board of Directors.  The idea was then presented at the club’s Annual Meeting on April 28, 2014, and approved with the understanding that the committee come up with clear guidelines and bring the plan back to the club for approval.
Baldridge stated the Board of Directors had approved the criteria at their meeting on November 11, 2014 and the Lima Rotary Foundation approved the criteria earlier today, November 17, 2014.  Also, the criteria was distributed to club members for their review before today’s meeting.
Baldridge opened the floor for discussion.  As there was no discussion, Baldridge called for a motion to approve the criteria as submitted.  Bob Ruehl made the motion to accept the criteria and Michael Ayers seconded the motion.  There was no further discussion.  Baldridge called for a vote.  The criteria was unanimously approved.
The Committee will hold a news conference on Wednesday afternoon November 19, 2014, at 2:30 PM to announce the $100,000 Rotary Club Investment in the Community and that the Rotary Club of Lima is now accepting applications for projects.  Applications will be received until December 31, 2014.
Once all projects are received, the Committee will score the projects.  Both Boards will then meet with the Committee to further the decision making process.  When there is agreement, the membership will again be brought into the loop for a final vote.  The winner will be announced at the Centennial gala.
There being no further business, the assembly was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted
Rita Brown, Club Secretary
