December Board Meeting Highlights

The Rotary Club of Lima Board of Directors met on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Shawnee Country Club. Here are a few highlights from that meeting:
- In the midst of all the serious business the Rotary Board of Directors were discussing, Board Member Bob Ruehl showed off his appetite with an oversized Club Sandwich. (SEE PICTURE ATTACHED)
- An announcement will be made the Rotary Club meeting to remind members to pay their dues. There is currently $9500 outstanding from members who are 30-90 days past due.
- Tuttle Construction has given an estimate to renovate the Rotary Pavilion at Farout Park which will be open to the entire club during some kind of service day. Details are still in the works but the Board agreed to ask the Foundation to help pay for the project estimated at $13,500.
- The Next Big Project committee has narrowed down to three possible projects. The Board suggested presenting all three to the Club then asking the membership to vote to narrow it down to two. The Board is also hoping to the membership will give suggestions for fund development on these projects. The Next Big Project will be chosen by the Annual Meeting in April 2012.
- The Blood Clinic raised $5909 in 2011 and $3144 in 2010 thats an increase of about $2800.
- The Christmas Auction raised $16,900 this year which is down $1000 from 2010 due to some auction items not being bid on as well as lower attendance. The Board is hoping to improve the Auction by next year.
- This year's Salvation Army Bell Ringing was a success with raising nearly $1000 and a few dozen members participating.
- The Board approved donations to the Shelter Box of $250 which will be combined with other clubs for a total of $4000 which will pay for 4 shelter boxes. In addition, the Board also approved $500 to go to a preschool in Belize.
- The next Board meeting will be January 17, 2012 at 11:45am at Shawnee Country Club.
