The Rotary Board of Directors met on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Shawnee Country Club.  The following are a few highlights from their meeting:
 

 

  • Board members discussed a finance fee to be assessed to any Rotarians who are late on their dues, as well as, a written statement printed and placed on tables at lunch requesting payments.  These proposals will be discussed at this year’s Annual Meeting.

 

  • There will be no meeting on April 9, 2012 due to the Easter Holiday Weekend.

  • The Annual Meeting will be held at the April 23, 2012 lunch meeting at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center.

 

  • President-Elect Jim Osmon proposed new standards for incoming members including participating in one committee, serving in two of three volunteer positions that will help them get to know the club as well as one Rotary event.  He also suggested a new attendance standard and contribution to Paul Harris Fellow Program.  Osmon will define the standards and purpose behind them in an upcoming email and eSpoke article.

 

  • President Jerry Courtney requested the May 7, 2012 meeting with Guest Speaker Mark Fenton be open to all service clubs in the area for the purpose of learning about community design and health initiatives.  Fenton is known as one of the leading most experts in helping communities improve in health and overall quality of life.

 

  • The Board approved a resignation from Lynn Metzger.  The Board approved 4 resignations and 3 new members in February.  Current Membership is 196.
    • Rotarians attending meetings for the month of February was 41.91%.
