MESA Tour Coming Through Lima
This annual fund raising event for MESA-Medical Equipment and Supplies Abroad is critical to MESA fulfilling their mission to facilitate international service projects for District 6600 Rotary Clubs by bringing equipment, technology and volunteerism to meet humanitarian needs in other countries.
Lima Rotary will be hosting the riders on the MESA Tour who will ride into Lima on Tuesday, June 12th. After stopping at the Lima YMCA which is on the Rotary Walkway, the riders will be housed at the Girl Scout Camp for the evening. The riders will ride on to Marion the next day.
It is the practice of each local Rotary Club to present the riders with a check at each stop on the Tour. Given Lima Rotary’s size and leadership within District 6600 it is vital that we present a meaningful contribution.
This note is to ask that each member complete the forms which will be on the tables at the next four club meetings up until June 12th. Any contribution of $20.00 or more will receive a t-shirt from the event held last fall at the Lima Mall. These shirts will be given out upon a first-come first-served basis until the supply is gone.
As you know the Lima Rotary’s International Service Committee had three Lima Rotarians visit San Pedro Sula, Honduras last fall as part of an effort to develop a long-term relationship with a Rotary Club. Due to that visit we are now hoping to complete one of our two current projects with the Usula Rotary Club in San Pedro Sula by preparing a soccer field for a school. Efforts such as this aren’t possible without MESA resources being used to arrange the needed shipments of supplies or making the needed contacts at project fairs.
More information about the plans to host the MESA Tour riders and the international service projects in process will be shared as we get closer to the visit by the riders on June 12th. Your contributions will be vital to hosting the MESA riders. Thanks for your efforts on behalf of Lima Rotary.
