November Board of Directors Highlights

The Board voted to cancel both the December 24 and December 31 meetings due to the holidays.

Board members discussed the drop in attendance and membership.  President Osmon asked for suggestions from the board as to how to help increase those numbers.  Suggestions ranged from each board member bringing in one new member each year, inviting better speakers, better use of Rotary International topics and training to address scheduling conflicts and the change in the world today that has simply caused organizations to have a lack participation from volunteers.

Board members also weighed in on the Riverwalk Discussion at the Club meeting on November 12, 2012 stating it was a good start to a very important conversation.  Board members discussed how other towns maintain similar bike paths and parks and how this dilemma will play a part in the Next Big Project that was voted in last spring.  President Osmon says the goal is to present options to the club and be sure it is well documented in the minutes as well as final drafts of agreements with the City, County and Parks District.  That way the future members will not have the same situation years from now.

Board members accepted the resignations from Tre Waldren, III and Dick Meredith.  Waldren will be transferring to a club in Wisconsin.

Bob Ruehl reported that Rotary International will be implementing major changes next year that will require local clubs to comply in order to receive grants for projects abroad. 

The financial reporters were reviewed and approved from September and October.

The Board of Directors Meeting will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
