Polio National Immunization Day February 14-28, 2012 in India!

Rotary International's Polio Plus program is a historic undertaking . You
can play an important hands on role by participating in a National
Immunization Day.
Volunteers are being sought for participation in a Polio Plus NID to be held
in India February 14-28,2011.

Volunteers will depart on February 14 and return on February 28.  You will
travel with other Rotarians from throughout the U.S. The experience will
focus on the immunization of children in the West Bengal area od India.
Also included in the experience will be hands on work with fellow Rotarians
and volunteers from around the globe; a visit  with World Health
Organization (WHO) officials and  Indian  leaders; visits to various Rotary
projects including a corrective surgery center, and; cross cultural
activities and sightseeing including a visit to the Taj Mahal.

Cost of the trip is approximately $4100 which includes airfare, hotels,
meals and in country transportation. Participants will need a current
passport and be current with immunizations for polio, tetanus, Hepatitis A
and B, influenza, typhoid,  and pneumonia. These can generally be secured
through hospitals and travel clinics. Participants should be flexible, in
good physical health, withstand the rigors of travel, be able to walk
distances, and work in a totally unfamiliar culture. The benefits of the
hands on NID experience are invaluable, once in a lifetime, and life
changing. Time is of the essence as visas and travel arrangements need to be
finalized very soon.  For further information contact Ann Hussey at
