Protecting the Environment
Rotary members understand that the whole world is their backyard. They see the effects of climate change in communities they care about, and they’re taking action. They’re tackling the problem the way they always do: by collaborating with communities to develop solutions to local challenges, using their connections to change policy, and planning for the future.
For inspiration, browse club-led environmental projects from around the world in Rotary Showcase. Through The Rotary Foundation, you can support environmental projects

Partner with a Rotary Action Group to protect the environment
Start or expand your environmental efforts by partnering with one of numerous Rotary Action Groups that are working to protect the environment:
  • The Rotary Action Group for Endangered Species brings together people who have expertise in protecting vulnerable creatures. The action group helps clubs and districts plan service projects that make an impact and connects them to a global network of people who are passionate about saving species. For example, the group partnered with the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning, California, USA, to co-sponsor a symposium on pollinators in Central AmericaConnect with the Rotary Action Group for Endangered Species to get involved.
Avenue of Service

Rotary’s young leaders champion diversity, equity, and inclusion

May is Rotary’s Youth Service Month. Our Youth Service Avenue of Service recognizes just how important it is to empower youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Interact. In 2022, nearly half a million Interactors embodied Service Above Self by taking on projects that supported their schools and communities. To honor their efforts, we invite Interact clubs to submit a video, photos, or an essay that showcases their projects for the opportunity to receive funds for their next project through the Interact Awards. The winners of the 2022 Interact Awards were selected for their efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in their service projects, their club, and their community. Support Interactors by sharing the Interact Handbook: A Guide for Interactors or by connecting them with Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and Rotary Youth Exchange.
