UNOH is forming a Rotaract Club!

I am very pleased to announce that we’re beginning to make significant progress in the development of a Lima Rotary Club sponsored Rotaract Club!  A meeting was held on Wednesday morning with Tim Fitzpatrick, the Dean of the College of Business and Danielle Oldham, the Director of International Student Services at the University of Northwestern Ohio.  These two will be the faculty advisors for the Rotaract Club being formed.  In addition, two students joined the meeting; Nina Nikolic is originally from Serbia and Xiomara Aguilar is from Columbia.

UNOH has already recruited 10 students and feel that they will have well over the 15 students needed within the next week to fulfill the requirements to establish the Club.  We let them talk about what they would like to see their Club do, some suggestions by these two International Students were:  Visit the elderly in Nursing Homes at Holidays and other times, Raise money for care packages that can be sent overseas, (toothpaste, soap, etc.)  Do a “color run” to raise money.  Collect school supplies for local and overseas students, Volunteer at the Humane Society, Provide student awareness and public awareness of problem children/students and adults face, and possibly do a “Malvina Farkle Day” (look it up on internet) in which the campus would shut down for a day and a major blitz would be done on community clean up or service projects.  They had some outstanding ideas and are eager to get started.  They will be reaching out to President David and Lisa Hummel within the next few weeks once they have their 15 students committed to the club to start the Charter process.

This is an exciting development for the Lima Rotary Club and I’m confident that the excitement will continue to build.
