Rotary Christmas Auction Was A Success

The 2013 Rotary Christmas Auction was a huge success with 90 people in attendance, and everyone had a wonderful time. Jay Begg did a great job as emcee and had the crowd laughing with his President Mike Trivia, Name That Christmas Carol, and word search contests. Best of all, we raised thousands of dollars for the Salvation Army and Lima Rotary Foundation. Thanks to everyone who participated!
The Rotary Holiday Party and Auction was a spectacular event. There were over 90 people in attendance—the heavy hors d'oeuvres more than covered this attendee’s meal requirements—much better than the bowl of cereal planned!
The silent auction items generated ongoing debates and tussles. However, due to Dr. Steiner’s absence, Anne Decker finally received the coveted load of gravel. We encourage Dr. Steiner next year to make sure Anne has some competition. There was also some wrangling between Mr. Begg and Mr. Hayne over the *gas-passing* Santa. Other attendees weren’t believing their cover stories about purchasing for grandchildren—is that the best you could come up with?
Thanks to the generosity of Greta Murray and her husband, a limited release scotch was auctioned off. The mood was set by John’s presentation of the history—less than 500 bottles produced in the world of this scotch along with something about the Queen. Some wrangling occurred for the scotch, with Mr. Timmermeister emerging as victor. Please note--he did not share.
Judge Warren was carefully selected as the guardian of Elvis. This year, Elvis was attired in a turquoise headband and beads, adding even more flair to his persona. It cost Jonalee and her husband dearly to have the Judge hold on to it. However, in the melee, Jeff Sprague expressed interest in watching over Elvis, except for some reason he felt his economic development responsibilities eliminated him from any guardianship opportunities. Legal input is requested for next year’s event on this matter.
