Shape-shifting Singapore
No matter how recently or how often you’ve been to Singapore, you’ll always find something new. Wen Huang, editor in chief of Rotary magazine, has been to Singapore twice before. He visited again in July in advance of the 2024 Rotary International Convention, which will be held 25-29 May. In the September issue of the magazine, Huang shares some of the delights he found on his visit as a preview for the thousands of Rotary members expected to attend. Be one of them by registering before 15 December and take advantage of the early discount.

This week's stories
Modular homes for Moshchun
Rotary districts around the world have used disaster response grants totaling nearly US$1 million to donate 76 modular homes to Ukraine. They’re mostly for use in Moshchun, a city devastated during the early days of Russia’s invasion. The effort supports jobs and is sustainable because the structures can be repurposed. But most importantly, the modular homes have made a swift and significant impact on people’s lives – creating a sense of hope.
The life of a Rotary Youth Exchange student
Smera Chanda started her Rotary Youth Exchange in September of 2022. Sponsored by a Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, she spent a year with host families in Catalonia, Spain, learning not only Spanish but also the local Catalan. Inspired to give back, she dedicated her hours after school to helping primary school students with their English. “I now have another incredible family whom I will remember forever,” she shares. Read more of her story in her blog post for Rotary Voices.
Targeted funds to aid Morocco
The Rotary Foundation Trustees have created a Morocco Earthquake Response Fund to support immediate relief efforts for people affected by the recent earthquakes. Donors can give directly to relief efforts led by Rotary members. Contributions will be accepted until 31 December 2023.
