Rotary clubs fight malaria in Zambia
Rotary members are making a difference in the fight against malaria, a preventable disease that remains one of Zambia’s leading causes of illness and a significant contributor to infant and maternal mortality. Since receiving the first US$2 million Programs of Scale award in 2021, Partners for a Malaria-Free Zambia has already trained 2,500 community health workers. The US$6 million program, which includes funding from World Vision U.S. and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will equip and deploy the health workers to help people in hard-to-reach areas get faster treatment. Over five years, Partners for a Malaria-Free Zambia will strengthen the national health system by working closely with local health officials and others to reduce malaria by 90% in two provinces, reaching 1.3 million people. This will save lives and create lasting change. Think about how you can prevent or treat disease in your own community or apply for a grant to make a difference in another part of the worldLearn more about Programs of Scale and Partners for a Malaria-Free Zambia.

Leverage the possibilities in the Ashoka-Rotary partnership
Rotary's partnership with Ashoka brings together the vision of Ashoka’s social entrepreneurs with the local expertise of Rotary members to inspire innovation that can solve problems, create leaders, and change societies. A Rotary club could contact Ashoka to identify and engage an Ashoka Fellow to speak at a meeting about how members can make a greater social impact. Members might get advice from Ashoka that helps them bring more focus and value to a service project. And Ashoka might also be helpful as members implement global or district grant projects around the world. Learn more about the partnership and how to work with Ashoka.
Increase your impact
Attend a project fair
As you plan your service activities for 2023, consider attending a project fair. It’s a great way to get involved in international projects and form lasting partnerships. By participating in a project fair, you can learn about local service activities and find a project to support while you experience a new culture through events organized by the hosts. District grants can be used to support travel to and participation in Rotary project fairs in order to help districts find project partners.

Review the list of upcoming project fairs and visit the event websites for more information or to register.
Enhance Engagement
Participate in Rotary Friendship Exchange
You can experience new cultures, expand your global understanding, and immerse yourself in travel and service opportunities while building lifelong friendships through Rotary Friendship Exchange. Every year, we offer the Rotary Friendship Exchange Photo Award as an opportunity for participants to share images from their recent experiences with the program. This year’s theme was reimagining Rotary Friendship Exchange. Congratulations to Districts 9210 (Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Northern Mozambique) and 7010 (Ontario, Canada) for being selected as the winners. If you’re interested in participating, learn how to get started with Friendship Exchange.
