We had a great time at this month's breakfast Rotary meeting!

On Thursday morning, April 10th at 7:30 am, the monthly make-up meeting for those Rotarians who are unable to routinely attend the regular Monday meetings was held at “Fresh” on N. Main Street in Lima  Six members of the club attended the meeting and… one visitor!

Vice President David Runk led the meeting as Esther Baldridge had just returned from a trip overseas to Israel.  The meeting was opened with an invocation by Bob McPheron.  While some of us dined on a delicious skillet prepared by Shane, the proprietor, a number of activities took place.

Fellowship included nearly everyone, including John Murray (Greta Murray’s husband) Stories were related of the funniest or strangest things that have happened in our businesses.  Some interesting anecdotes were shared.

Next, David made the usual announcements about upcoming events, including Dictionary Distribution to local 3rd graders (see Dave Cockerall), the planned Blood Clinic in connection with Lima Memorial Hospital (contact Mike Swick), our Annual Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing (see Matt Otto) and the Mesa Bike Tour (contact Harold Bischoff).

David shared some of the highlights of the Rotary Board of Directors meeting that was held at Shawnee Country Club this past Tuesday.  Readers of this newsletter who were able to attend the most recent regular Monday meeting will recall that a new push is being made to bring in new members… and involve others in the club whose attendance or participation is low.  Many names of prospective members were provided by all who were present on Monday.  The Membership committee as well as the Classification committee will be busy for a while.  One other highlight from the Board meeting was that it was determined to remove the ceiling of ten corporate memberships.  Therefore, a concerted effort will be made as the future unfolds to court those executives of larger businesses in the area who may have interested people in their respective leadership groups.  More details about this effort can be obtained from Cindy Wood or Jay Begg.

Thanks to all of those who were able to attend the meeting today.  We had a good time and want to encourage others to join us next month.  The meeting takes place on the Thursday immediately following the monthly Rotary Board meeting.  See you then!
