The Lima Rotary Club was honored to host the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
It was truly a special meeting as the Lima Rotary Club hosted the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run on Monday. More than 50 local law enforcement officers and athletes, headed by torchbearer Meghan Long, escorted the Special Olympics torch through the north side of Lima and down Main Street to Town Square where the Lima and American Township Fire Department ladder trucks hung a huge American flag over the street and crowds were on hand to welcome them. The law enforcement officers and athletes joined us for lunch and with the help of host Vince Koza, performed the Pledge of Allegiance and 4-Way Test. Known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the “Flame of Hope” into Opening Ceremonies of local competitions. The Ohio Special Olympics games take place this weekend in Columbus. We wish everyone good luck!
