The Lima Rotary Club hosts the Allen Lima Youth Leadership graduation.
The Allen Lima Youth Leadership class of 2024 has spent the past year learning more about our community and how to be leaders, and the year culminated with a graduation ceremony at the Lima Rotary Club on Monday. The students divided into four groups and each group chose a project that they felt would benefit the community and they presented those projects to club members prior to graduation. The four projects were:
  • Students Against Substance Abuse - To create weekly peer groups in grades 3-6 in schools across Allen County to promote the positives of substance abuse avoidance.
  • Reducing Waste In School Cafeterias - An effort to reduce excessive waste and packaging in school cafeterias by reducing or eliminating plastic and Styrofoam utensils and trays.
  • SoleStrides - A movement to provide proper footwear for the less fortunate people in our city.
  • Mental Match - Creation of a website to help students cope with anxiety and mental health problems and connect them with help.
Lima Rotarians voted on the projects and selected MentalMatch to be the recipient of a $1,500 grant from the United Way of Greater Lima to help the students bring their project to reality. All four projects were outstanding and we congratulate everyone on their accomplishments and their graduation!
