It's that time of season, it's that time of year. The Allen County Fair is here!
The Allen County Fair is underway and runs through August 23. Fair Manager Troy Elwer told us that this is the fair's 175th anniversary and they have a lot planned to celebrate, including concerts by Lauren Daigle and Franni Cash on August 16, and Micky Dolenz and The Cyrkle on August 17. The Lima Area Concert Band wraps up the fair on August 23 leading up to a grand finale fireworks display. There is also all the usual free entertainment on the midway including a lumberjack show, magic show, interactive Lego display, chainsaw wood carvers, petting zoo, the gospel tent, OSU Alumni Band and more. More than 1,400 youth are participating in this year's fair with projects ranging from woodworking, dog training and sewing to livestock. Troy told us a number of capital projects have taken place over the last year, the most visible being the huge statue of Moorice that greets visitors at the north entrance, updated sheet/goat show barn, maintenance building and restrooms, a complete renovation of the show arena and a new waterline. The fair is also doing podcasts, hosted by our own President Russ which are also being video recorded and loaded to YouTube. When you go to the grandstand entertainment this year, be sure to say hi to our Rotarians who are taking tickets. There's plenty going on at this year's Allen County Fair. Don't miss it!
