OSU's new Regional Campus Commitment makes it possible for eligible students who start on a regional campus to earn their Ohio State degree tuition-free. OSU Lima Dean and Director Dr. Margaret Young told us that starting autumn semester 2026, students from Ohio families that earn under $100,000 per year, who start on a regional campus can qualify for the new program, which will cover all tuition and mandatory fees, even if they later transition to main campus. "The mission is about taking world class research and education out of the ivory tower and putting it directly to work in towns like ours. That commitment that says geographic location and financial background should never limit what our community members can achieve." Dr. Young told us that since the Regional Campus Commitment was announced, enrollment at the Lima campus is up more than 18%, with a 42% increase in the number of students who chose the Lima campus first, and an increase of more than 51% in students who reside in Allen County. "This is a game changer for West Central Ohio. We are effectively eliminating tuition as a barrier for the vast majority of families in our region." She says they also saw an increase of more than 3% in their retention rates from last year.
