Do you embrace generational differences?
Fellowship was by David Runk, who wold us of many world events that occurred on this day in history. Next weeks meeting will be a presentation by the Lima Drumline - sponsored by our club. (hearing protection may be suggested)
Bell ringing for the Salvation Army will be held this weekend - Drew Fields will contact you to confirm your shift.
$4167 was raised in this fall's blood clinic. Ralph Ellis reminded us of the tremendous help that Lima Memorial Hospital and Dr. Thompson has given us to make this event a success. I know personally of a Rotarian that caught a potentially serious health problem at an early stage by participating - which you simply can not put a price on.
Our next alternative meeting - now called the "Inside Scoop" - will be held January 16th at 7:30am at Fresh - located at 140 N Main Street. If you want the inside scoop - come to the meeting for good food and fellowship.
Our program today was entitled - "Embracing Generational Differences" - presented by Jeannie Stahl from the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities. I was impressed that she was able to put a very informative program on with a few hours notice - she was not scheduled to present until February, and really came to the club's aid by filling in...
She pointed out that today's workforce is made up of 4 distinct generational segments - from traditional to Generation Y - and each segment has different needs and workplace priorities. a successful manager must identify these generational differences, and train each employee to understand and respect everyone's varied attitudes on the workplace. Of course, any Rotary program that gives out candy is sure to do well - but I personally heard several members comment that the meeting was very interesting.
