The Allen County Museum is planning a capital campaign.
The Allen County Museum's vision for the future includes investment in education, community outreach and engagement in order to expand programs and operations. Director Christine Fowler-Shearer told us that to achieve that, the museum will be kicking off a capital campaign in May. "We're going to reimagine the galleries and exhibitions to tell a richer, more inclusive story of innovation, transportation and community life through updated design, technology and interpretation. The MacDonell House house will receive much needed preservation and upgrades. We're also going to expand K-12 programs that enhance hands on learning." Fowler-Shearer says that one of the major expenses the museum is currently facing is the complete replacement of the HVAC system which is aging and not functioning well. "We want people to have a welcoming, engaging experience when they come through our doors and we want to strengthen our role as a community hub as well as expand our draw as a regional, cultural destination." More than 27,000 visitors go through the Allen County Museum's doors each year with 48% of them hailing from outside this area.
Also at Monday's meeting, we inducted our newest member - Chad Henning, Director of Admissions and Marketing at CareCore Health. Please make him welcome!
