Heir Force Community School want to be the catalyst for the redevelopment of Lima's north side.
Heir Force Community School is renovating the former Ohio unemployment office at the corner of Main and Grand and hopes to move in to the facility in time for the next school year. Current enrollment is approximately 250 students from kindergarten through eighth grade. With the new facility, enrollment can increase to approximately 375. Executive Director Dr. Willie Heggins told us that Heir Force has also acquired the property across Grand Avenue and plans to build a playground there. He'd like to see this be a catalyst for the redevelopment of the area, including mixed-use buildings with stores on the ground floor and apartments upstairs. "We all can win. Let the school be an anchor for helping to revitalize the economic makeup on the north end of town. So as we look toward the future, the expansion of Heir Force Community School's facilities is more than just a construction project. It represents a significant step towards strengthening our school's presence in the community."
Also at Monday's meeting, we presented the proceeds from the 4th quarter Rottery drawings to Samaritan House. Executive Director Brandi Schroeder accepted the check for $320. Thank you for your generosity!
