We're only 7 short months from the Allen County Fair!
Cindy Wood shared many fun facts about MLK - the one I remember is that he got a "C" in public speaking...
The Rotary Foundation gives away over $28,000 each year, and our club is working to build local awareness of the foundation. Look for more programs in the future relating to how the foundation works in the Lima area.
The membership committee is looking for new members (irony) - Let the president know if you are interested...
The president's coffee urn has been returned, and 4 shelter boxes were purchased for the Philippines. Thanks again to the membership for supporting a worthy cause !!
Our speaker today was one of our own - David Grimm - from the Allen County Fair. He gave us an update on the fairgrounds, and upcoming projects:
The fair organization was started in 1950 - there are 132 acres and 38 buildings.
Ohio Fairs attract over 4.5 million visitors each year (180,000 to our fair) - the fair's budget is 2.1 million, and employs 4 full time staff.
Most importantly - the Fair puts smiles on people's faces !!
