Since 1955, every point scored in the NFL, every touchdown, every field goal has been with a Wilson Football made in Ada
Wilson Football is gearing up for Superbowl 60. Manufacturing Engineer Mike Springer told us that Wilson & the NFL have the longest game ball partnership in American sports history totaling 84 years. The plant has 171 employees who produce approximately 2,500 footballs per day or an astounding 550,000 per year. Wilson manufactures five different sizes of leather footballs, K2, TDJ, TDY, TDS & NFL for youth, flag, middle school, high school, college and professional teams. 27,000 of those balls are for the NFL with each of the 32 NFL teams receiving 780 footballs each season that are specifically identified with each teams’ decal. Since 2017 every NFL football has a sensor inside, for tracking on the field through AWS Next Gen Stats. Wilson purchased its building in Ada in 1955. With increased production and the demand for customization of the balls, they ran out of room and decided to construct a new building. Last May they cut the ribbon on a new $15 million, 80,000 square foot factory in Ada. Tours of the plant are available and can be scheduled on their website.
Also at Monday's meeting, Jeff Unterbrink presented the proceeds of the 2025 Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing to the scholarship committee in the amount of $27,200. Beth Seibert announced that Rottery raised $233 in the fourth quarter for PolioPlus, bringing our total PolioPlus contribution to $3,150 which is being matched two for one by the Gates Foundation for a total raised by our club to eradicate polio to $9,450. President Russ also recapped the first half of the Rotary year, congratulating club members for raising $6,256 from the Christmas Extravaganza and Raffle, $14,000 from the Holiday Home Tour, and $2,480 from ringing bells for the Salvation Army. Looking ahead to the next six months, our club is hosting the District 6600 speech contest at Mercy's GME building on April 11, the annual blood clinic is scheduled for May 2, and the club's mini pavilion should be installed at Safety City this spring.
