President Dave calls for more member engagement.

"What would the world be without Rotary?" was President Dave Frost's question as he made his inaugural remarks before the club. He encouraged us to reflect on all the good things Rotary has done locally: building the Rotary Pavilion in Faurot Park and the Riverwalk, hosting the Special Needs Christmas Party, passing out dictionaries to third graders, and more; on the district level, MESA is shipping medical supplies and equipment to countries which desperately need them, and helping to educate people in Belize; internationally, Rotary has been instrumental in nearly eradicating polio from the globe. "Our greatest accomplishments are performed outside of our Monday meetings," says Dave. The Rotary Club, "is kind of a big deal. We are the best of the best."
Dave says that we get out of Rotary what we put into it and that's why he's encouraging everyone to get more involved in the club: join a committee, volunteer for a service project, recruit a friend to join. "We need more hands-on projects as opposed to check-writing projects." Dave believes that with more member engagement, we'll see our membership grow which will allow us to have a bigger impact.
On a sad note, Dave opened the meeting by announcing that Mike Lamb passed away that morning. Chaplain Jon Rockhold requested a moment of silence for Mike, and asked us to do what we could to stop the senseless violence that we have seen recently around the world.
