International Tank celebrates its 50th anniversary.
In June of 1975 Butch Kirk and his grandfather, Everett Kirk, sat around Everett’s kitchen table and sketched out the plans for the company that would become International Tank Service. Butch told us that ITS got its start sandblasting, painting and repairing large above-ground storage tanks. Today, ITS is a full-service above-ground storage tank contractor, constructing and maintaining tanks in 41 states and 2 foreign countries. In its fourth generation, ITS provides complete tank services to such industries as petroleum, chemical, asphalt, fertilizer, water & waste treatment, utility, heavy industry and government agencies. International Tank Service has four locations in Lima, with its headquarters on Metcalf Street. For its 50th anniversary celebration, ITS donated $25,000 to the Lima Aquatic Park.
Also at Monday's meeting, we presented our quarterly scholarships to eight non-traditional students who are attending Allen County institutions of higher learning. This brings the total number of scholarships awarded by the club to 1,282, totaling $1,009,085.
Assistant District 6600 Governor Barney Beckman from the Ottawa Glandorf Rotary Club visited our club to introduce himself and encourage us to recruit new members.
Mike Swick presented the proceeds from the 2025 blood clinic to the Lima Rotary Foundation in the amount of $4,699.83. 250 people attended our blood clinic. Thanks to all the volunteers who made it possible.
The Lima Rotary Foundation also received a donation of $138 from Beer Barrel Pizza and Grill for our Dine & Donate fundraiser.
And Don Diglia exchanged his red badge for his blue badge. Congratulations!
