The Lima Rotary Club welcomed Congressman Jim Jordan as our guest speaker.
"Washington's a mess," according to Congressman Jim Jordan. "The number one concern I hear from business owners is they can't find people to work. It shouldn't surprise us, when we pay people not to work, we can't find workers." Jordan says his other concerns are inflation, foreign policy, and what's happening to our liberties. "Every single liberty we enjoy as Americans under the First Amendment has been assaulted over the past several months. You've got five rights under the First Amendment: Your right to practice your faith the way you want, your right to assemble, your right to petition your government, freedom of the press, freedom of speech. Every single one's been attacked. This is the world we live in today and it really concerns me so I try to speak out." Jordan says he is working to see if there are things the Republicans and Democrats can come together to work on.
Also at Monday's meeting, we welcomed new members Andi Ostendorf and Andrew Lotz. Demi Burden, Jeff Dulmage and Tim Sielschott became Paul Harris Fellows. And Dick Schroeder announced that the Lima Rotary Club exceeded its PolioPlus and Every Rotarian Every Year goals for the year. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
