We are at the end of the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis.
Life has begun to get back to normal after a three month disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Allen County Health Commissioner Kathy Luhn told us it's not over yet. We will continue to see new cases and new deaths as we search for a cure and a vaccination. In the meantime, she recommends that we continue the preventative measures we are currently practicing. As businesses begin to reopen, Luhn says they should follow six basic requirements: employees should wear face masks, follow employee health policies, wash hands and disinfect surfaces, stagger employee schedules, follow plans for continuity of operations, and maintain social distancing. For the customers, Luhn says businesses should allow face coverings, set the maximum capacity for their business, limit/stagger entry, sanitize high touch surfaces and limit physical contact. "This has disrupted our lives in ways we've never seen before. We're still trying to come to terms with it. Life is going to be different from now on. We have to make some adjustments to our lives and work together to save lives and our livelihood."
Also at Monday's meeting, John Ficorilli encouraged us to attend the Rotary International Virtual Convention from June 20-26 (see the article in this week's eSpoke), and Mary Lane gave us some interesting and funny facts about Father's Day.
