Lima Rotary gets a tour of Apollo Career Center's new Public Safety Training Center.
The Lima Rotary Club met at Apollo Career Center Monday for a tour of the school's new Public Safety Training Center. the 28,000 square foot building houses the Fire/EMS, Police Academy, Criminal Justice and Truck Driving programs. It has six classrooms, two simulations labs, seven offices, and three open bay labs. Superintendent Keith Horner told us that the Fire and EMS programs serve over 100 fire departments and EMS squads in 14 counties; their Police Academy has an 86% placement rate and a 94% completion rate. The Truck Driving Academy served 177 students last year. The Criminal Justice program is new for the 2025-2026. school year. The new Allen County Exam Center oversees licensure for Class A, B, CDL and D. 705 tests were completed in 2024. In addition, 264 students have received training through Apollo's Driving Academy in the past 12 months.
