The Allen County Board of DD is improving accessibility throughout our community.
The Allen County Board of DD has been awarded $584,000 from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Superintendent Renee Kohler and Community Relations Coordinator Sierra Weltmer told us that they are using those funds to improve accessibility and inclusion throughout Allen County. ACBDD partnered with 18 local businesses to bring these accessibility improvements to Allen County, including:
  • Door openers
  • Curb cuts
  • Parking lot work
  • Accessible sidewalks
  • Wheelchair accessible doorways
  • Hoyer lifts
  • Ramps
  • Bathroom modifications
  • Universal Changing Tables
  • Modified van with wheelchair lift
The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities offers a full range of services, from in-home early intervention for babies and young children to service and support administration for school age children through adulthood. They are celebrating Disabilities Awareness Month this month by raising awareness about inclusion and celebrating the contributions that people with developmental disabilities bring to our community.
